the town is shutting down

Well U2 and Muse are probably officially in the big Cville, as their concert is tomorrow night! This town is pumped up and getting ready. I have received a number of emails this week ago in preparation. This concert is bigger than a UVA football. One email from the ProVo asked bosses to let their employees leave work by 3 pm tomorrow afternoon to clear off campus so that roads could be blocked off and parking lots cleared.

I've been trying to save my energy so I can walk my balls off tomorrow night to and from the stadium, and jump up and down for hours at my seat!!! I'll try to take photos of the big Bono for you all.

I also read today that U2 has made no money on their summer/fall concert series because their stage, set up and resources are so big and expensive to move around the world. Looking forward to seeing that tomorrow night.

Muse, MUSE, MUSE!!!

go lions

Yeah my MI lions actually pulled out a win last weekend!!! Yep that is the first win in 19 games since 2007. Congrats! Bringing the pride back to MI.

And for those that missed the Viks game, Favre has officially won the hearts of most Minnesotans now. As D said, we aren't getting "favred" anymore, instead he is working for us!

PS, I had to stop and make sure I wasn't saying loins instead of lions :)

new gopher stadium

A couple weeks ago I was very excited for my MN trip home for the UMN football game!!! So the new gopher stadium is AMAZING!!!! I was one of the first people in there for the first home game of the season. And what was even better is we actually won the damn game, and if you know anything about Gopher football that is a pretty amazing thing in itself. A surprise to me was the fireworks off the top of the rim:

Check this out to if you need a little historical reminder:

Here are some pictures from the game as well.....first I had to take a pic of the toilet I peed in during the first quarter. You have to admit there is a good chance that I was the first one to pee in there considering it was early in the first game and the seat was still up. WAHOOOO, at least I didn't puke it in:

And of course I have to post my two favorite people in the world, my Uncle Robin and best butt humper Helga, who held it down with me at the game! GO GOPHS!!!!!

a little MN trip narration

Here is a paragraph narration of a part of my MN trip a couple weeks ago:

So Doug and I got my grandma out to lunch at the local VFW for some overly fried food. And of course Doug gets her a hard drink and she is drunk by the end of the meal (did I ever tell you the story about my UMN graduation party where she came out to my favorite bar and one of my guy friends bought her a “blowjob” shot and she was sipped it with a straw saying how good it was!). She can’t hear for shit so even if you are attempting to have a normal conversation with her, she probably can’t hear you, and then 5 minutes later repeats the entire thing again! No memory and can’t hear for shit, which only gets worse after you give her a drink. We get her into the car afterwards and she says “I like going for car rides when I’m drunk” And then when I got to get her out of the car afterwards she looks at me and asks when I got there, because she had forgotten I was there when I was sitting in the backseat! LOVE IT!!! Anyways she told me “to keep giving them hell and getting into trouble” when we put her in bed at like 12:30 for her afternoon nap. If she dies at least her last words to me were “give ‘em hell” Yes yes grandma I normally do!

music of the moment

A fine frenzy:

news of the week(s)

  1. T and I saw a black bear while running through the forest in WV last weekend.
  2. D and I shattered my ceramic crock pot on Friday night. I'm now without a slow cooker (christmas list).
  3. I finally got paid and reimbursed from my FL/GA vacation, yeah for paying off credit cards.
  4. My eyes have got worse and so I have new glasses, and invested in prescription sunglasses as well. You don't know how much you can't see for shit until you can see again!!! That was a total $600 investment (with insurance).
  5. GO VIKS!!! (favre only has to live through 13 more weeks)
  6. Yesterday was the Cville vegetarian festival and it rained all day, but the food was amazing!!! Luckily no one adapt an animal either.
  7. My new favorite flower is Celosia....and I bought a bright red and pink bunch at the farmer's market yesterday to dry for the winter.
  8. I have mastered making brown sauces now, and my beef stir-fries have gone up in quality exponentially.
  9. This week I got my second article from my thesis rejected from the Journal of School Violence. I knew that first publication was a fluke! But I am going to take their suggestions and resubmit a tier down (surprisingly this didn't upset me nearly as much as I thought it would). Nature of the beast I suppose.
  10. Ironically, a reviewer (see #9) said that I have a "white supremacist etymology" for describing my sample as "Caucasian" instead of white. After I got the reviews, I did immediately go to my clan meeting wearing a white hood. Are you freakin kidding me???
  11. Winner winner chicken dinner, I think I had the best chili at this week's chili cook off. But in all honesty there wasn't any official voting :)
  12. It is officially the fall which means I'm buying apples, wearing sweatshirts, and loving the leaves changing colors. This is my favorite time of year!
  13. I am an official user of the Redbox now...forget Netflicks. I'm all about the up and coming redboxes.
  14. I went to the dry eye clinic this week and now I'm officially putting steroids in my eyeballs. Again, why does thing Lupus related end in Roids????

So next TH night I'll be rocking out right here in Cville with U2 and Muse!!!! I'm sooo excited. I've been listening to Muse's new album for over a week, and you have to admit you are jealous at our killer seats. More later:

lots of states

I was thinking this morning about how many states I've been in during the last 10 days:
  1. Virginia
  2. Georgia
  3. Minnesota
  4. Michigan
  5. Washington DC
  6. West Virginia (or close enough because it is the same to me)
Time for this girl to relax and stay in town for awhile....

a picture can say something

I'm not sure what to say about this photo....

Barack Obama Lightsaber

Thoughts????? I'm sure we can come up with some good lightsaber and star wars comments:

  1. Star Wars reenactment in the green room!
  2. The audacity of a new hope
  3. At least the color of the saber is for the good guys (I just wikipedied that business)
This week BO called Kanye a jackass and now he is fighting the forces with lightsabers....Overall it is a good week so far :)

well I had no idea where this was going

Well here is a commercial where I had no idea where it was going....see at what point you knew what was happening:

HP theme park coming

I had mentioned previously that the Harry Potter theme park was coming along in Orlando, and soon that busy was going to be open for business (they have to cash in on the HP madness before all the movies are finished). Universal just announced it is going to open the park THIS spring. Well here is the newly released video of the park:

Looks pretty sweet if you ask me!

my name, evil?

A friend of mine forwarded on a new movie coming out called: Leslie, My Name is Evil. Although the title cracks me up, the trailer doesn't make it look like a movie I want to watch....sort of freaks me out and I'm not entirely sure what it is about.

Evvvvilllll, insert pinky to your lip!

sexiness on a boat

Two of my favorite actors were snapped together yesterday, looking hot gentlemen:

I'm a'comin B-O-B

WOW the big B-O-B is gracing the homepage of the UMN. I was like, wooo there is Bob's head. And he is in the new stadium!!!! So exciting.

dirty google

A friend of mine forwarded on this new google link that is made especially for the Cook Islands: http://www.google.co.ck/

It of course makes perfect sense to people without dirty minds, but for the rest of us it looks like "Google Cock." Apparently the google search engine is getting dirty (and I like it). I bet you can find anything you want while searching at http://www.google.co.ck/. Your search results are probably long and satisfying!! Ohhh here is a good one, I bet you can push the "I'm feeling lucky" button at google cock too!!! OK that was fun.

It reminded me of when my cousin Mike and I mistyped www.google and ended up at www.booble instead. We were thinking how dirty google had got!!! And now it is true, well only partly.

al franken is amazing

The MN state fair is just amazing, if it isn't producing the best things of sticks, it is providing now Senator Al Franken an oportunity to impress the shit out out of us all!!! This guy hand draw a map of the USA and was pretty damn accurate. That guy must have been paying attention in geography class in school! Apparently he can draw and tell jokes, but that whole Senator thing is still waiting to be played out:

music of the moment

What am I spinning right now? Taking it back....thinking of how I still want someone to make a t-shirt that says "big momma:"

douchiest schools

Soooo I used to only go to state schools and was all about my land grant universities, but the last 2 1/2 years I've been at a much higher class university. This seems to be pissing me off lately, as all those type of students have returned to campus. My parking lot is full of BMWs and Lexus's and all kinds of fancy cars I want to poop on.

Case and point of how this is pissing me off: last night I was out to dinner with M & A and I kept yelling at these asshole, doucheball students with their damned pink polo shirt popped collar, plaid bermuda shorts, and penny lofters without socks. Those east coast fers with their damn money. I swear, I don't know where this is coming from.....

Case and point part 2: While waiting in the Apple store on Saturday some 11 year old walks up to the corner and says his iPhone isn't working. The guy explains that it had water damage and that it is no longer under warranty once that happens. This kid was a mini east coast asshole, and then I look behind him and his dad was a spitting image!!! They were only missing the pastel sweater tied around their necks. Anyways, the Apple guy says it is $499 for a new phone and the dad just plops down an American Express Gold card and bought him a new iPhone. I wanted to yell: TEACH HIM SOME RESPONSIBILITY!!!! Damn 11 year old kids gets whatever he wants.

And if that wasn't enough, I got this email about America's 25 Douchiest Colleges. And not to my surprise as soon as I open it up, UVA is #25!!! I'm surrounded by east coast douchiness....

Here is what they said about UVA:

Home of: The Blue-Blazer Douche
Affectations: The side part; the insistence on referring to your school as "the University," our third president as "Mr. Jefferson," the quad as "the lawn," and the Civil War as the "War Between the States."
Overheard in the bleachers: "Well, at least our football players actually go to class and—hey, Dylan, this mint julep is outstanding."
In ten years, will be: A member of an exclusive country club. Maybe a philandering public official. Not unlikely a lobbyist for a tobacco company. Possibly all three.

Yesterday was the first home football game and I wanted to run over any student I saw in a tie, orange pants or wearing a set of pearls. I can guarantee next weekend when in MN for the first home football game there will be no students dressed up for the football game. They will have their faces painted and be wearing a student section shirt and be drinking a beer.

My boss clipped this comic for me.....technology AND pirates!!!! Yeah!!!!

back up and running

So I've mentioned that I had some computer problems the last two weeks, but I'm happy to announce after spending 4 hours at the Apple store yesterday and 7 days without my lovely laptop previously, that we are back up and running!!! I have a new hard drive, a new battery and a free upgrade to the brand new MAC operating system. See what happens when you have patience...you don't have to pay anything extra for basically a brand new computer!!!!

Today I officially got all my mailboxes, bookmarks, addresses, calendars, pictures, and music put back on my machine. I went through the 10,000 messages in my Sent mailbox to pull off as many documents I could recover. And I'm going to go through my blog to get any photos I've lost as well. My iPod is reformating as I type. I wonder what music I'm going to be missing....time will tell. I know I got two books that are now lost. Unfortunately I'm not sure SPSS is going to load on the new OS, which will suck, but I'll work through the rest of the UVA software/email issues with their tech support this week.

Yeah for being back up and running! PS, if you haven't backed up your computer in say the last 6 months, I suggest you do that now!!!! Take it from me.

plastic bags

I was so happy that after 2 1/2 years in Cville that I had organized my life enough that I was using canava bags all the time and had used up all the plastic shopping bags under my kitchen sink. Well that was immeidately shot to shit when I received a box yesterday that was full of Leine's stuff and wrapped in about 50 plastic bags!!!!

Crap Ma it is going to take me 2 more years to use them up now!!! But thanks for the Leine's beer bottle light, and insulated bag!!! I'm going to use the bag next week in MN while tailgating. Yeah!

why some women are still single

Amen sister!

Why some women, and some men too, are still single.

SITC part 2 started

So they officially started filming the second feature film for the Sex and the City (SITC) never-ending drama of a series. The first movie, and I'll admit it, wasn't that bad. But seriously how much more can they milk it??? These ladies are soon going to be going through menopause. And that will make for a very interesting story line....Hot Flashes and the City (yeah like I'm sure someone hasn't thought of that one already!)

We got the first sighting of the filming of SJP and Chris Noth already. At least the clothes will look good!

supporting gay ice cream

Well Vermont is one of many states now who have passed same-sex marriage laws, and as of yesterday they started issuing licenses! To honor this, Vermont's very own Ben & Jerry's ice cream has announced a new label for their popular flavor Cubby Hubby. For the next month it will be called Hubby Hubby, and feature of picture of two men on top of a cake!!! In a press release from the company, they said:

"Ben & Jerry’s has a long history of commitment to social justice, including gay rights. Its partnership with Freedom to Marry, a national leader in the movement for marriage equality, aims to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality and to encourage other states to follow the blazing trails of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Maine. Ben & Jerry’s aims to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality and, to show its support, will serve “Hubby Hubby” sundaes in Vermont Scoop Shops throughout the month of September."

WOW!!! I didn't know B & J was so progressive. I thought they just sold overpriced ice cream and lived in a state colder than where I grew up. The question is will this gain or lose them over customers?

Check out the new label:
