I've resolved to stop buying clothes

Soooo now that I've put away a half of car of clean laundry in my room, I've resolved that I'm not buying any clothes for a long time. Seriously, I have 12 drawers and a walk in closet full of clothing. I need more hangers again. I need to stop buying clothing. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous :)

PS, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

go MSU

OK I'll admit this is a stupid video but I had to notice that Will Ferrell is wearing a MSU sweatshirt!!!! Way to rock on supporting MI!!!!

goats in trees

So the much anticipated release (insert sass) of Matthew McHOT new movie, Surfer Dude, has produced a movie poster that has goats in trees. Yep, that is right there are goats in the branches of the trees, with the headline: love and waves, that is all we need in these dark days. Well you know the economy is in the shitter and this movie suggests that you stop going to your job and instead go catch some waves.....then follow the goats to climb up a tree!

real news vs. spoof news

So the major television networks are having to work alot harder lately to keep their numbers. Some networks are changing the times for the evening news in hopes of bringing in new and/or different viewers. The shift in television viewing from the major networks has also be very apparent in the number of shows up for or awarded honors at the Emmys and other notable ceremonies (for example, more awards for Mad Men or the Closer, all non-major-network).

Another apparent shift in news show has been seen in the appearances on the late night shows, as well as the Daily Show and Colbert Report (DS & CR). Clearly, "celebrity" appearance played a major role in the 2008 election season. CNN reported that there were 4x as many appearances than in the 2004 campaign (and I'm sure this was non-biased reliable research). Spoof news shows are gaining in popularity.

So my question is do people (or perhaps just young people) see these spoof news shows as real news? I am definitely a fan of DS and CR, but I also know how to critical look at and analyze shows and/or news and/or life in general. It is my sneaky subspicion that other folks do not completely understand the differences, and I think this represents a dramtic shift in everyday news and journalism.

a reminder to behave

while a the movies....this dude decided to shoot someone for continuing to talk while seeing the Ben with Button movie. I also saw this the other day and thankful I was not shot, I wasn't as much talking as laughing at moments. Again, this is alittle scarey that folks are allowed to carry a concealed weapon and basically use it without maddening consequences whenever they feel necassary.

PS, the movie is really good if you can get over the whole 3 hour part.

made it to 0-16

Well the Loins gave the Packers a little run this afternoon.....in the 4th quarter when they were only down by 3 I was really afraid they might pull it out in the end, BUT thankfully they still lost. I mean if you are going to be bad, you might as well be the best of the worst. That is how we do it in MI, that is in football and the economy.

Nice work, nice work boys! I might need to pick myself up a t-shirt before I leave. They were going like crazy in Meijer today :)

Oh another note, congrats to the Vikings for a well deserved conference championship....great game today and on to the playoffs (or bowl games, whatever). We love Minney.

womanizer remakes

I am completely loving the remakes of Britney's womanizer hit.....

I like the clinking of beer bottles to the song!

Check out Lily Allen's cover of the song as well:

ohh momma mia!

Thanks to the holiday rush, Momma Mia! DVD sales have surpassed that of the Dark Knight this season!

I actually helped in this record by purchasing a copy, and watched that business last night. There is some major star power in this movie and ABBA is like box office gold. I personally love the towns people with flippers on the dock scene. OK OK, I know, but it was kind of funny :)

slumdog millionaire

So I have not seen this movie yet but it is on my list (though it might have missed my official blog list).....but it is getting alot of buzz out there right now! I know it will be up for some Oscars, and has already won many other awards. Go see it! Here is what IMDB says:

The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.

a good day here

Well today was a good day....partly because I didn't slip on the ice and bruise myself throughout the entire 24 hours!!! Yeah for me. I hit up the gym this morning, although there was a inch sheet of ice on the ground, then cashed in my $35 winnings in Santa lottery tickets (winner winner chicken dinner).

I got two games of scrabble under my belt using my theory of slowing down my sisters but not actually winning (as Terri said, "I don't know how to spell," and I completely concur). Then I had a coffee with friends in Holt. Caught up on everyone, and headed back for dinner and presents with Terri (an adapted member of our family). Got some Yoga socks which I will definitely be trying out when back in Cville. Excited about that business!

Still lots of snow around here, but we are not nearly as bad as all those folks in Seattle who didn't have power for 12 hours on Christmas day and were forced to use the gas grill for their dinner. Sorry, that sucks! Happy post holidays to everyone!

Now it is the weekend and we're all gearing up for the big 40th "thank god we didn't kill each other" Wedding party on Monday night. Right now we have 29 folks RSVPed, and Gail is cooking some amazing beef. We will see how this all goes but we will be planning and cleaning for that this weekend :)

I personally like #4, all emotional and psychological disorders can be cured with Viks vapor rub!!!! teheheheh

dear santa

So this is definitely a young liberal writing to santa.....

dear santa

p.p.s, you appear to be over weight, perhaps you should go on a diet? All natural food are better for you, especially granola.

p.p.p.s, I hope that you allow those reindeer to roam free around the north pole. As you may know, it is not good for animal to be cooped up in cages, instead they are "happier" when they can live on the free range.

more sexy-time

get your mind out of the gutter.....just another fam pic!

movies seen over the holiday

So I'm keeping a running list of the movies I need to see over the holidays. Here is where I'm at so far:

My progress has somewhat been delayed by the amount of snowage. Here is what I would like to see:
  1. Four Christmases (no thank you, 1 is enough a year)
  2. 7 pounds (hoping not to gain this amount over the holidays)
  3. The curious case of Ben with Buttons (if I'm not curious throughout and if he isn't wearing buttons, I'll be pissed)
  4. Frost/Nixon (only because I thought Bobby was president, clearly I need to bone up on my presidential knowledge)
  5. Doubt (because it is going to win awards and the Catholic church is going to hate it!)
  6. Gran Torino (just so I can see how long Clint can speak in the same rascy voice at Batman in the dark knight)
  7. Revolutionary Road (because we haven't see Leo and Katie together since that damn boat sunk)
  8. Bridal Wars (because sometimes even I like chick flicks, though I won't admit it)

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and Happy Holidays to you all!!!! (hope this doesn't happen to you tonight)

Animation of Santa Claus with pants on fire jumping out of smoking chimney

presidential bubblewrap

need to wrap something delicate....no worries, there the new BO bubble wrap:

Obama Bubble Wrap

Couldn't we make bubble wrap for the people we hate??? Say the people who if there were 3 people who voted them, say off the earth, that we really could put a hit out on them! Yeah so because we can't really do that, I suggest we use bubble wrap instead. Put your boss, or your least favorite person onto the bubble wrap, then pop the shit out of that business.

I am starting to sound like an info-merial. They are TONS of those on in MI on TV, or perhaps it is cable television. But we got extra storage hangers, and so much more. I've even see the new BO plate.

snowy MI

So MI has some snow!!! It has been snowing off and on since I got here. This morning I ventured out with the plastic pinto to get a fabulous pedicure, and my ass was sliding all over the place. It didn't help that some people obviously wearing their asshats were riding right up on my trunk (yes I have some junk in the trunk)......SLOW down you jholes before you kill me and my plastic pinto.

Oh a happier plastic pinto note, Betty's TX saturn and my VA saturn are making saturn babies in the 10 degree driveway. We are expecting little baby saturns soon!!!

Here is a picture of how much snow was have, with my plastic pinto and Betty shoving (like a good daughter).

go detroit

So now that I'm back in MI-land, I've been experience all this support for the Detroit Loins!!! Yeah go Loins!!! Except the support is for them to go 0-16.....if they win a game alot of Michiganders who are going to be pissed. On the front page of today's paper was some dude was giving the warrior, two arms in the air stance with a t-shirt that says:

lionsyeswecan

Go Loins!!! Way to represent!!!
