oh lionel, are you there?

I've decided I really like Lionel Richie. The mullet-like hair, the stache, and legendary songs. I've highlighted previously some well-place song lyrics in new gifts you can buy me. And now we get the best video ever made involving that a0-amzing hello, it is you? song:

Hello from ant1mat3rie on Vimeo.

We're pretty confident this is the best version of this song ever created, and not just because it's "performed" by some of my favorite movie characters, or because it doesn't involve a clay bust of Lionel Richie's giant head. It's also because the person who recorded it had nothing to do with the creation of Nicole Richie or her friendship with Paris Hilton.

the world needs more whistling

I have a love-hate relationship with whistling. My bff and longtime lover-pants is an "extreme whistler." She invented this annoying past-time over 10 years ago. I think it was retaliation for cheerfulness in the mornings, so instead of talking to me she with whistle with a rapid pace at high volumes. So annoying.

Anyways, I was thinking about whistling lately because the new Britney Spears song keeps getting stuck in my head:

This got me thinking of other whistling songs, and the historical significance of these. For example, there is the classic "woot woot" whistle made famous by those testosterone-fueled construction workers. This was made into a catchy rap sound a couple years ago, which also sometimes gets stuck in my head:

Lookin good, and it's time to whistle at her....there ya go!

All this extreme whistling also reminds me of the movie Kill Bill. I went through a phase were I was just whistling this tune in all places, including the grocery store aisles, during classes, etc. This sends shivers down your spine as you think of naughty nurses and extreme judo chops:

And finally we need a little throw back to that Disney classic, Snow White and her little people with a range of emotions (you know--happy, bitchy, doppy, sassy). They all like to whistle, and apparently when you exercise this in an extreme fashion it makes your day go quicker. This might provide evidence for while we all should whistle while we work (in Louis's version):

Need other whistle tunes??? Well don't forget when you are sitting on a dock, when there are two of you, or when you're thinking about the golden years.

this is not the place for accurate news

I think it is about time for a serious disclaimer. After about 7 years of blogging, on two different sites, I think we need to have a candid conversation about some LL Spot readership limitations:
  1. This should not be your only place for news, be that snarky or serious. I suggest other such creditable sources like FoxNews (fair and balanced) or DailyShow (satire and sarcastic).
  2. All ramblings by LL are not based in fact. There is no journalistic integrity here (which really isn't much different than other blogs and/or news sources).
  3. I reserve all rights to put on my ass kicking boots and solve the world's problems in a typical LL fashion.
This disclaimer is brought to you by my highly scientific family. Brunch of fucking s-m-r-t people who check into everything I say. Case and point, earlier this spring I posted this amazing picture of gigantic drift wood in the state of WA as one of my pictures of the day. I received a number of phone calls afterward that informed me that I miss reported the exact time and place and reasoning behind the photo. Well crap and a half, who has that type of time to hunt down and backtrack the sources and citations!!! I'm just trying to make your day a little better with a smile or laugh, and not necessarily change your longterm educational level!!!

From here on out I pledge to include a significance level with all my posts, p<.001 with a high magnitude. E=MC square to the power for 4, bitches.
